Duties

Performs legal research and analysis and prepares summaries, briefs, and opinions, on a wide variety of complex legal subjects. Examines case files to determine issues and sufficiency of evidence or documentation. Reviews financial disclosure forms for possible conflicts of interest utilizing pertinent statutes and regulations for guidance and informs attorney of possible conflicts Exercises discretion and independent judgment in support of the command Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act programs. Assists the OSJA in meetings, discussions, etc., with other personnel involved in legal matters under consideration. Reviews correspondence for compliance with agency correspondence directives

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315

OR Combination of education and experience: The specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have at least two years of graduate education as described in B, but less than the required three years. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
