As the NASA HQ Center Chief of Protective Services with the Office of Protective Services (OPS) you will supervise a team responsible of the development, planning, and implementation of the Security and emergency management protocols and responses required for the protection of personnel, resources, and information.
Duties
Maintain relationships with NASA entities and other government agencies. Utilize a wide variety of resources and tools to develop, maintain, monitor, enforce, and provide oversight of Security requirements.
Apply policies and principles related to the management of information, including information quality, accessibility, security, confidentiality, privacy, and integrity.
Integrate performance goals with budget and financial resources, as well as the ability to achieve customer satisfaction and adhere to agency wide programs, policies, and procedures.
Provide objective evaluation of agency standards and operation through use of inspection/investigation techniques and compliance audits.
Influence, motivate, and challenge others; adapt leadership styles to a variety of situations.
Advise others on technical issues, apply formal training or extensive on-the-job experience; work with, understand, and evaluate technical information related to the job.
Use machines, tools, instruments, or equipment effectively. Use computers and computer applications to analyze and communicate information in the appropriate format.
Identify problems; determine accuracy and relevance of information; use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
Perform a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees.

Requirements
- Position subject to pre-employment background security investigation.
- Current Federal employees must meet qualifications, time in grade, and 90 days after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
- If selected, you will be required to complete a financial disclosure statement.
- Must meet criteria for use of a firearm IAW Federal Arrest Authority and meet standard/training qualifications in compliance with 14 CFR, Chpt V, Part 1203b.103, Security Programs Arrest Authority and Use of Force by NASA Security Force Personnel.
- A one-year supervisory probationary period may be required.
Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
GS-14: To qualify at the GS-14 level, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level:
Supervising staff of security professionals in day-to-day performance within the security specialist disciplines which may include Information/Industrial, Physical, Operational, and Emergency Management;
Implementing and managing programs designed to prevent information, personnel, property, facilities, or operations;
Providing oversight or guidance for the day-to-day operations of protective services for an organization in the areas of security, law enforcement, and/or emergency management.
