About the Position: This position is located at the 88th Medical Group, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
-Completion of Associates Degree in Medical Equipment Technology preferred.
-Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
-Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes.
Duties
Performs scheduled preventive maintenance, calibration, function verification, and safety testing on a wide variety of diagnostic and therapeutic medical and dental equipment.
Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and test a wide variety of medical and support equipment used in the various clinics and departments of the medical center.
Advises management, professional staff, and executive management on technical matters regarding maintain/upgrade/replace decisions within particular area of expertise.
Utilizes hand and power tools in a safe manner, employing personal protective equipment, goggles, gloves, hearing protection, etc.) where appropriate
Performs Receiving/Initial inspections on new equipment.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 45 pounds is required.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Medical Equipment Repairer ~ without more than normal supervision, including installing, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various types of equipment such as x-ray systems, magnetic resonance imaging, or computer tomography. I am able to analyze wiring systems and electrical components of medical equipment. I am skilled in installing medical equipment with assorted power supplies; repairing mechanical equipment; and conducting preventative maintenance of medical equipment. I can utilize diagnostic tools such as voltage analyzers, frequency counters and ammeters to determine proper equipment functionality. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Physical Effort: Work assignments involve standing, stooping, bending, and frequently working in cramped and awkward positions for prolonged periods. Medical equipment repairers continually lift from 5 to 18 kilograms (10 to 40 pounds) and, occasionally, objects weighing in excess of 18 kilograms (40 pounds).
Working Conditions: Repairers perform work inside, in well lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. They are exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, scrapes, broken bones, and serious burns caused by electrical shock. Repairers work in contaminated and contagious disease areas, and with radiation and contaminated equipment
