About the Position: This position is located at 88th Medical Group, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
Leave accrual may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
Duties
Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance, calibration, function verification, and safety testing on diagnostic and therapeutic medical and dental equipment.
Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and test medical and support equipment within the medical center.
Complete unscheduled maintenance on diagnostic and therapeutic medical and dental equipment.
Provide guidance regarding if medical equipment should be maintained, upgraded, or replaced to management and professional staff.
Provide training and guidance to new employees and non-journeyman.
Follow safety and security procedures to maintain a safe, clean, and secure work environment.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
- This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 45 pounds is required.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Medical Equipment Repairer without more than normal supervision. Provide technology management and equipment repair/calibration support for the medical center; to maintain all equipment used in the center in optimum operating condition in order to ensure a safe environment of care for staff and patients; to assess and evaluate the condition and state of the art of in0use medical equipment compared with emerging medical technology for the purpose advising professional staff and executive management when making maintain upgrade/replace decisions. Frequent lifting of 10-40 lbs. and occasional heavy lifting. Considerable standing, stooping, bending, and frequently working in cramped and awkward positions for prolonged periods. Some climbing and occasional working from ladders may be required. Requires close hand-eye coordination and normal color perception.
Work is performed primarily indoors but with occasional outdoor tasks. They are exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, scrapes, broken bones, and serious bums caused by electrical shock. Repairers work in contaminated and contagious disease areas, and with radiation and contaminated equipment. Subject to potential of electrical shock from handling high voltage/high frequency circuitry. Subject to incidental occupational levels to exposure to: ionizing radiation; mechanical hazards, toxic chemicals, gasses, and fumes; pressurized steam; loud noise; and hot pipes/metal objects. May occasionally work from a 6-foot ladder.
