Duties
This job opportunity is located in the Document Services Branch, National Processing Center (NPC), Jeffersonville, IN. This position plans, directs, reviews and coordinates the work of a unit performing printing of mailing material for census/survey mail out activities. This position is not included in the bargaining unit. The individual selected for this position will:
Directs the work of the unit which includes the operation of complex mail processing and peripheral equipment, prepare and printing of census/survey materials which meet sponsor and USPS specifications and requirements for mailings;
Plans and schedules ongoing production-oriented work on a daily basis;
Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees;
Improves work methods and procedures used to produce work products.
Tour of Duty: Hours will be range between 6:45 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Alternate Work Schedule is available. Alternate Work Schedule is an 80-hour biweekly basic work requirement that is scheduled in less than 10 days; i.e., eight 9-hour days/nights, one 8-hour day/night, and one day off. Various work schedules are available. Positions may include evening or weekend work, hours will vary.
Qualifications
Time in Grade: In addition to specialized experience, you must meet the time in grade requirement. Current and former Federal civilian employees must have held a position at the grade 06 for at least 52 weeks in the Federal Service for promotion to the grade 07 and at the grade 07 for at least 52 weeks for promotion to the grade 08. Time-in-grade/band requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
You qualify at the grade 07 level if you possess one year of specialized experience equipped you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. This specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the grade 06 level to meet the qualification requirements in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience that demonstrates knowledge of and skill in the operation of various peripheral devices; making corrective adjustments; and leading or training others in support of a large-scale mail processing and material assembly environment.
You qualify at the grade 08 level if you possess one year of specialized experience equipped you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. This specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the grade 07 level to meet the qualification requirements in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience that demonstrates knowledge of and skill in planning and directing work regarding mail processing and peripheral equipment operation including monitoring/adjusting various peripheral devices and systems in support of a large scale mail processing operation.
Education cannot be substituted for experience at these grade levels.
Employees on a permanent appointment who were hired through a Recruiting Bulletin, who have not served in their current appointment for at least 90 days, are not eligible to apply.
