About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center located at Fort Drum, NY.
Duties
Serve as quality assurance/control entity and working leader for the stand alone Aviation Ground Support facility under the Installation Maintenance Division.
Work closely with team members setting the pace and passing on instructions received from supervisor to start work.
Utilize various plans, schedules, guides, Standard Operating Procedures, publications and knowledge of servicing procedures and materials in the inspection of on-going performance.
Perform inspection of final work product by testing or operating equipment to ensure proper operation.
Repair, overhaul, and rebuild major assemblies, systems, i.e., engine, transmissions, drive line, hydraulic lifting, and positioning systems.
Perform Quality Control/Assurance inspections over the repair and service operations.
Troubleshoot, inspect, test, diagnose, and perform major repairs, overhaul and maintenance of a variety of powered support equipment such as generators, and compressors.
Utilize the Logistics Information System (LIS) to post work order status updates, order repair parts, input team member's man hours, add tasks for additional faults found during ongoing repairs and run shop prints utilized during daily operation.
Requirements
- Incumbent must successfully obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
- This Position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing program. Incumbent must successfully complete pre-employment drug-analysis testing, as well as subject to random drug-testing during employment.
- May be required to work Army Power Projection Platform (AP3) Operations utilizing a skill that is classified no higher than the current grade. Work may involve shift work, weekends, or holidays.
- Must obtain and maintain a government driver's license.
- Employee must possess and maintain a valid state drives license and be able to obtain a Class B, Commercial Driver's license (CDL) within one year of employment. The CDL must be maintained as long as the incumbent occupies this position.
- Pre-employment physical and annual physicals thereafter. Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) of 25% may be required.
- This is a weather essential position.

I have the ability to perform common Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Leader duties. I can lead employees engaged in the repair of heavy equipment; I post work order status updates and order repair parts; I can perform preventative maintenance on equipment. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Stands, walks, bends, works in awkward positions. Work requires frequent bending, reaching, crouching, standing and arm movement. Incumbent sometimes works in cramped areas. Frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds and lifting heavier items using jacks, hoists, etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and occasionally outside. Inside, incumbent is frequently exposed to drafts, changing temperatures, and loud noise. Outside, incumbent may on occasion be required to work in bad weather. Both inside and outside, frequently exposed to irritation or discomfort from dust, heat, fumes, etc. Incumbent is exposed to the possibility of cuts, burns, bruises, and electrical shocks. Wears protective clothing and equipment as necessary.
