This position is located in the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Office of Inspector General (OIG), and Office of Audits, Evaluations, and Cyber (AEC). This position conducts audits, evaluations, and/or reviews on FDIC programs and operations, assess their efficiency and effectiveness, and make recommendations for improvements at the Agency. Additional selections may be made from this vacancy announcement to fill identical vacancies that occur subsequent to this announcement.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional qualifications information can be found here. All applicants MUST meet the recent graduate program eligibility requirement, one of the basic qualification requirements AND the specialized experience described below for this position:  1. Recent Graduate Program Eligibility: You must have obtained a qualifying associate's, bachelor's, master's, professional, doctoral, or technical/vocational degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution within the previous 2 years from close of announcement date. Veterans who were precluded from applying during any portion of the two-year eligibility period due to their military service obligation will have a full two-year period of eligibility upon release or discharge from active duty to apply. In no event may the period extend beyond six years from the date the veteran completed all the requirements of an academic course of study. 2. Basic Education Requirements: (1) Degree: auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting. OR (2) Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following: A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours. Applicants MUST submit transcript(s) and appropriate certification/documentation as verification of meeting the basic requirement to be considered for this position. See the Required Documents section for acceptable documentation. Failure to submit sufficient academic documentation will result in your application being deemed incomplete and removal from further consideration. 3. Specialized Experience Requirements: In addition to meeting the Recent Graduate Program Eligibility and Basic Education Requirements above, applicants must also meet the specialized experience and/or directly related education or a combination. For the CG-07: Applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 5 grade level or above in the Federal service. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: assisting in planning and conducting research for projects; reviewing, analyzing, and extracting pertinent data from files and reports; gathering and analyzing data and draw conclusions; and briefing peers, instructors, or management on assignment or project results OR One full year of graduate-level education or a bachelor’s degree with superior academic achievement based on class standing (upper 1/3 of class), grade point average (3.0/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in the major), or election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement (Superior Academic Achievement Definition). OR Combination of education and experience. This is creditable providing the combination consists of 100% of the requirement. For the CG-9: Applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 7 grade level or above in the Federal service. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: assisting in conducting performance audits, evaluations, or reviews; assisting in preparing written reports, work papers or briefs; assisting in collecting, evaluating, and analyzing data; verifying facts or reported statistics to source documents; and briefing peers, instructors, or management on assignment or project results OR Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's equivalent graduate degree may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. OR Combination of education and experience. This is creditable providing the combination consists of 100% of the requirement. Only graduate level education in excess of first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered as qualifying education.
