About the Position: This is a permanent position with Headquarters, US Army Corps of Engineers, located in the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) building, 441 G. Street, NW, Washington, DC. As the Public Affairs (Speech Writer) you will serve as the primary speechwriter to assist in the development and execution of public appearances by the Commander Chief of Engineers before national and international audiences in both the Federal and private sector.

Duties

Serves as the primary speechwriter for the Commander and Chief of Engineers, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Formulates themes, messages, and philosophies to be presented in speeches, addresses, briefings, and testimony by the Chief of Engineers. Analyzes and organizes information to be presented to determine logical and the most effective theme development and presentation. Conducts specialized research in a variety of areas, to include but are not limited to, history, national security, research and development, environment, and global infrastructure. Utilizes a variety of techniques to include computerized research tools and interviews with technical and subject matter experts.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
