The primary purpose of this position is to install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild integrated electronic systems, where the output of a number of sensor subsystems is integrated into a logic subsystem and the resultant used to modify the operation of the total system.

Duties

- Installs, modifies, overhauls, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, rebuilds, aligns, and calibrates integrated ground or airborne electronics systems - Sets up and operates software controlled automated test equipment to run established programs in various test modes to test and troubleshoot integrated systems - Uses and maintains hand and power tools, precision measurement tools, and test equipment - Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment - Maintains inspections and maintenance records. Provides production team maintenance such as aircraft servicing

• This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment and participation in random drug testing.
• IAW DoDI 3020-42 this position has been locally or command designated as Mission Essential (ME); needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of the activity.
• Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting and remain on duty during phased or early release.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2600, Electronic Equipment Installation and Maintenance Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of an ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of electronic theories and practices of one or more complex integrated systems such as fire control, inertial navigation, or automatic landing control systems; of integrated electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, fuel, optical, and mechanical systems; of such applications as radar, digital or analog computers, digital display devices, and of the technology and practices which integrate these components into a total functional system; and of mathematics including algebra and basic trigonometric functions to adapt standard function to the specific requirements of the integrated systems. 2. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures. 3. Skill in the set up and operation of computer controlled automated test equipment (A TE) and test stands, oscilloscopes ( dual trace, storage, digitized), spectrum, network and distortion analyzers, frequency counters, and signal generators; in interpreting complex drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete integrated systems to recognize the function and interconnections of components, assemblies, subassemblies, and connecting cable harness; and in troubleshooting, installing, repairing, and maintaining electronic integrated systems where circuit theory must be used to understand the operation of a large number of circuits and functions, and the interaction of subsystems which create malfunctions. 4. Skill in the use of a variety of hand tools such as screwdrivers, drills, wrenches, soldering irons, and microsoldering units. 5. Ability to follow drawings for integrated electronic systems; to trace the effect of a change in one subsystem to other integrated subsystems and determine which controls and devices must be change or adjusted to compensate; and to repair, align, and adjust major integrated electronic systems such as inertial navigation systems, and automatic flight control, or fire control systems. 6. Ability to use computer terminals to maintain records and document actions. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Heavy lifting (80 lbs and over) with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Heavy carrying (45 lbs and over). Reaching above the shoulder. Use of fingers. Both hands required. Hours of walking are 4 Hours/day. Hours of standing are 4 Hours/day. Hours of repeated bending are 4 hours/week. Climbing, use of legs and arms. Both legs required. Climbing and working in high places (towers) may be required. Operation of crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle. Near vision correctable at 13 inches to 16 inches to Jaeger 1 to 4. Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other. Depth perception. Ability to distinguish basic colors. Ability to distinguish shades of color. Hearing (with or without aid permitted). WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in hanger areas, outdoors, in parked aircraft, and sometimes in hazardous noise areas. Exposed to extremes in heat, cold, humidity and inclement weather. Must work in confined areas and in awkward positions. Exposed to dirt, grease, and aircraft fluids, oil, hydraulic fluid, solvents, incendiary devices, and hazardous fluids and gases. Subject to cuts, bruises, muscle strain, and injury from falls off scaffolds, ladders, and aircraft surfaces. Slippery or uneven walking surfaces. Working around machinery with moving parts. Working around moving objects or vehicles. May be exposed to intake suction and hot exhaust blast. Working closely with others. Working alone. Exposed to the possibility of electric shock, burns from electrical or RF energy or hot solder, and cuts and bruises.
