This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Police Officers to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position will serve as a Police Officer, Directorate of Emergency Services (DES), IMCOM located at Fort Sill, OK.

Duties
Conduct law enforcement duties at interior and exterior gates, assure proper Identification of all pedestrians or motor traffic, clear visitors, and maintain prescribed records.
Perform patrol duties alone and take action based upon knowledge of laws, statutes, and procedures.
Search or detain and arrange for search and interrogation of suspects.
Recognize, collect, preserve, and mark evidence for use in investigations and prosecutions.
Write or present oral reports of incidents and may be required to testify in court.
Maintain firearms and other issued equipment in good working order and condition at all times.
Employee participate in regularly scheduled training in the techniques of first aid, sabotage, disorder, riot, disaster, and counter-terrorism.
Conduct search of persons and vehicles entering or leaving the installation as directed or when probable cause exists.
Maintain traffic control at shift changes; enforce traffic regulations controls.
Reroute traffic in emergency situations, issue warning, tickets or summons, apprehend violators, obtain facts, and prepare statements concerning accidents or violations.
Employee operate a military vehicle in the regular performance of duties, perform operator maintenance on vehicle, and maintain the cleanliness of weapons and equipment.
Serve on permanent or rotating shifts at fixed access control points (ACP), or vehicle patrols assigned to a specific area.
Ensure security of access to installation, buildings, and areas within the installation in order to protect critical property.
Maintain vigilance against acts of sabotage, espionage, theft, violence, and infractions of rules; patrol assigned areas; sit/stand at assigned posts; and issue passes to visitors who are properly identified.
Encounter a variety of problems involving military and civilian members who works on the installation.
Investigate problems and come up with workable solutions within established guidelines.
May be required to perform Desk Sergeant/Dispatch responsibilities.
Evaluate the situation and determine degree of severity of the incident or accident and to be able to dispatch appropriately qualified team (experience and/or special training) to investigate and/or to lend assistance as appropriate.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
- Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes:
- These include, but not limited to: weapons qualifications, first aid/CPR and National Incident Management System (NIMS) training requirements.
- Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56:
- Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical / psychiatric evaluation.
- Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
- Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
- This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
- The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
- Incumbent is subject to removal from the position if convicted of a felony in accordance with Section 639 of P.L. 106-554 effective January 20, 2001.
- Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004) position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
- In the event of a crisis situation or inclement weather, the incumbent must continue to perform the duties until relieved by proper authority.
- Incumbent must possess a valid state driver?s license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator?s license.

GS-05 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Fill out reports on incidents of theft or accidents and write citations and/or sworn statements for clear-cut, observed violations of laws and rules OR Stand at a fixed post and monitor personnel movements to and from a controlled access area when the post is observable by senior officers.
OR
Education: Successful completion four years of education above the high school level in an accredited school leading to a bachelor's degree in Police Science or a comparable degree program related to the work of the position, such as Criminal Justice. OR
Combination of Experience and Education: Specialized experience as described above, but less than one year; and I have some education above the high school level but less than required in B. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education by 120. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
GS-06 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Perform law enforcement operations to protect life and property and perform traffic control and emergency response duties OR Provide visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments.
GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Pursue and apprehend persons fleeing a crime scene or attempting to resist arrest and perform criminal investigative duties which include preserving evidence and interrogating suspects.
