About the Position: Serves as working leader for police officers, performing a variety of law enforcement and related administrative duties in support of a 24 hour, 7 day a week mission to protect life, property and the civil rights of individual citizens and/or employees with the Directorate of Emergency Services at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Duties

Operate the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal in accordance with federal and state laws to transcribe data. Monitor lower level employees work performance to ensure compliance with supervisors’ instruction and established operating procedures. Apprehend violators as required by applicable laws and regulations. Interview apprehended suspects to gather information and analyze facts. Conduct investigative traffic stops to issue citations when appropriate. Respond to radio calls requesting assistance to resolve various incidents. Participate in civilian training in law enforcement policies and procedures. Report to supervisor on employee performance, progress and training needs.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
  • These include, but not limited to: weapons qualifications, first aid/CPR and National Incident Management System (NIMS) training requirements.
  • Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation.
  • Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
  • Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
  • The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
  • Incumbent is subject to removal from the position if convicted of a felony in accordance with Section 639 of P.L. 106-554 effective January 20, 2001.
  • Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004) position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
  • In the event of a crisis situation or inclement weather, the incumbent must continue to perform the duties until relieved by proper authority.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Incumbent must be able obtain and maintain a valid Tier 3 (Secret) security investigation.
  • Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required.
