You will serve as an ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the Waste Management Division of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR.

Duties

You will provide technical support for environmental compliance programs at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar. You will plan and carry out environmental inspections and audits, including data collection, report preparation, and development of plans of action and milestones for correction of deficiencies. You will develop and carry out formal and informal environmental training for military and civilian personnel. You will gather, analyze, track, and report environmental program data. You will assist in developing environmental compliance policies and procedures. You will review proposed programs and projects to determine environmental compliance requirements. You will recommend the use of new technological developments and techniques to improve program execution.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Scret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:identifying, developing, and implementing environmental compliance activities; and providing technical advice to assist in resolving critical issues regarding compliance with environmental laws, regulations and hazardous waste management. GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing assistance in administering environmental protection programs and the laws and regulations related to environmental protection activities; determining relevant environmental regulatory standards and applicability; evaluating waste and identifying proper storage and disposal requirements; ensuring that data are collected and reported promptly and accurately; and evaluating audit results and recommending methods to correct deficiencies. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree

LL.M., if relatedor

A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience..

GS-09:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
or
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
