Duties
You will utilize journey level trade skills primarily in the following two trades at the WG-10 level: Electrician and Industrial Equipment Mechanic.
You will install, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and load new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.
You will install, align, troubleshoot, repair, disassemble, overhaul, and maintain various types of nonproduction or general industrial plant machinery, equipment, and systems.
You will interpret building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the work and skill to use trade formulas to calculate common properties.
You will use close tolerance measuring devices and tools (e.g., voltmeters, ammeters, multimeters, vacuum and acid pumps, pressure gauges, humidity recorders, micrometers, calipers, soldering equipment) to repair and test equipment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Mechanic without more than normal supervision performing duties such as:
1) Applying a variety of trade practices (e.g., electrical, pipefitting, plumbing, or HVAC repair) to plan, layout and complete the installation, modification and repair of facility equipment;
2) Installing and making routine repairs to a variety of plumbing/water and HVAC systems in accordance with specifications, blueprints, and regulations; and
3) Testing electrical circuits or components for continuity, using electrical test equipment.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and other hard-to-reach places. The work may subject employee to long periods of standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The work will require lifting and carrying tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 40 pounds. Occasionally, may be required to lift or move heavier equipment with assistance.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed both inside and outside. The work may subject employee to work outside in bad weather; in work areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty, and greasy; on scaffolding or cranes at heights of 30 feet or more; and in close quarters. May be occasionally exposed to the possibility of injury from falling, electrical shock, burns, and moving equipment. May be exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises.
