Duties

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of the Secretary, Secretary's Immediate Office, in Washington, D.C.. At the full performance level (GS-15) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Oversees and supervises all career administrative staff that support the Secretary's Immediate Office (SIO) and the Office of the Deputy Secretary, excluding the Office of Congressional and Legislative Affairs and the Land Buy-Back Program. Oversees and evaluates the day-to-day operations of the SIO and the Deputy Secretary's Office to ensure the flow of operations as it relates to FPPS, FBMS, QuickTime, facilitate coordination, floor plan restructuring and layout, fleet management, IT services, parking and vehicle management, onboarding and offboarding employees etc. Serves as Departmental subject-matter-expert in analyzing and advising all travel related policy, rules, regulations. Serves as principal advisor and staff to senior officials in the SIO regarding resources available, appropriate avenues for achieving staffing, budgeting of travel allocations, space and management objectives. Designs, plans, and participates in management assessment studies to determine the effectiveness of programs and develops innovative and often novel approaches and recommendations to address systemic problems to improve program operations. Reviews policies and best practices proposed or under consideration by Department program offices, bureaus, and other Federal agencies to determine impact on policies related to programs under the purview of the Assistant Secretary - Policy, Budget Management. Manages the SIO travel allocated budget. The Secretary's Immediate Office has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval. Salary Information GS-15: $163,964 - $191,900 per annum. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level. This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position you must meet the Specialized Experience for the series/grade to which you are applying. Specialized Experience To qualify for the GS-15, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience (MUST MEET ALL): 1) Managing operational functions in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment such as a front office; 2) Developing and implementing processes and procedures regarding budget execution and management; 3) Evaluating organizational policies and procedures to provide policy interpretations and recommendations; AND, 4) Analyzing and advising on travel related policies, rules, regulations.
