About the Position: Serves as Health Technician in the Department Soldier Health, Winn Army Community Hospital, performing a variety of audiometric procedures to support wellness based Preventive Medicine and Primary care initiatives.

Duties
Coordinates and administers microcomputer driven audiometric examinations performed to determine occupationally related hearing loss via the Defense Occupational and Environmental Health System-Hearing Conservation (DOEHRS-HC).
Coordinates with the hearing conservation center to sponsor mandatory in-processing briefings and earplug/hearing protection inspection or issue.
Documents test data via electronic transfer into microcomputer based software storage systems or on graphical/tabular paper forms.
Sets up required medical equipment daily. Performs mandated calibration checks on equipment and records results.
Receives patients reporting to the clinic for care.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- This position is covered by Health Affairs Policy 97006, 23 Oct 96, which requires the employee to obtain Hepatitis B Immunization unless exempted by a physician.
- This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquires (NACI)as a condition of employment. Employees must obtain a favorable result from a criminal history background check as a condition of employment. (NACI)
- Certification in Hearing Conservation (or CAOHC certification equivalent for technicians) and for the DOEHRS-HC system is required.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- Position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Associations (AHA) within 90 days of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting hearing exams; assisting with hearing device fitting; AND
utilizing an electronic health record system to access and update patient information and schedule appointments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Speech-
Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or Speech Language. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the
computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
