About the Position: Primary purpose of the Health Technician (Optometry) position is to perform work in support of the Optometry Service. Department of Primary Care at WINN Army Community Hospital on Fort Stewart, GA. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Conduct optometric entrance testing (pupils, ocular motility, visual field, depth perception, color vision) to record results. Maintain clinic supplies for patient examination. Utilize optometry equipment (such as fundus camera, topography, optical tomography) to image ocular structures. Promote a caring and professional environment for patients and staff members.

Requirements

• This position requires a National Childcare Check with Inquiries (CNACI) Background Investigation.
• This position requires the successful determination of required Child National Check and Inquiry (CNACI) background investigation.
• This is a Testing Drug Position (TDP). You will be subject to initial/entry testing and random drug testing as a condition of employment.
• This position may require Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 5%.
• This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
• This position requires to work at multiple locations such as Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield as the mission requires.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes :1) assisting in the preliminary examination of optometry patients by utilizing screening and technical optometric procedures such as measuring visual acuity and spectacles, 2) performing autorefraction, autokeratometry, and intraocular pressure, and 3) other specialized optometry testing devices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
