This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), in Washington, D.C. The incumbent serves as the Diversity Officer and will integrate education and training opportunities within OVW work to advance DEIA within requirements of Executive Order 14035 - "Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility" and DOJ's DEIA Strategic Plan under the direction of the Executive Officer.

The duties and responsibilities for a 0301 Diversity Officer generally include, but are not limited to, the following: Participates in job fairs and/or federal-specific events that target students and recent graduates. Examines existing policies, procedures, practices, and identifies areas where corrective action is needed to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Prepares comprehensive reports for leadership to include data metrics, survey results, and responses to various data calls. Establishes contacts with diversity groups and support human capital in the development of strategies to increase the diversity of the talent pipeline. Participates in and supports the development, delivery and communication of programs, policies, practices and training that addresses equal employment opportunity, diversity and inclusion, and engagement initiatives. Contributes to a positive and productive workplace culture to maximize staff wellbeing.

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
  • You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or two-year trial period.
  • Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Diversity Officer at (GS-0301-13), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to. If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information). To qualify for the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing the following duties: Participating in and supporting the development, delivery and communication of programs, policies, practices and training that addresses diversity and inclusion, and engagement initiatives. Conducting outreach to various entities such as educational institutions, professional organizations, academic institutions, and/or other diverse networks. Advising or presenting recommendations on human capital practices that impact diversity, equity, inclusion, or accessibility initiatives. Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-13 level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone. No substitution of education for experience is permitted.
