Carl Vinson VAMC Nursing Education has a position opportunity for a Simulation Training Technician.
The purpose of this position is to provide the maintenance and security of the simulation lab environment and equipment. The incumbent will able to maintain, clean and troubleshoot manikins. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for reporting equipment failures and initiating work orders for the simulation equipment and all accessory pieces.
Duties
Will support daily operations of the simulation lab, with the general supervision of the RN Simulation Coordinator, to include scheduling, lab orientation of students and faculty, maintaining attendance records and providing simulation technological support.
Duties of this position but not all inclusive is listed below:
Participates in the development, coordination, and implementation of education that integrates interactive learning/simulation training to service line and facility learning plans.
Works in partnership with Simulation Coordinator, clinical experts, and other clinical subject matter experts to develop interactive learning/simulation and provide technical support to clinical simulation training.
Manage lab supplies and simulation equipment as evidenced by keeping an inventory of supplies/equipment, organizing, ordering, restocking, and assessing needs of the end-users.
Prepare for pre-simulation activities by preparing simulation technology and supplies, assisting in documentation of simulations, obtaining consents and setting up simulation control room or AV equipment in accordance with simulation lab policies and procedures.
Responsible for prop placement, and moulage Set-up before and after simulations to create a virtual healthcare setting.
The technician will assist in monitoring the safety of participants and trouble-shooting equipment throughout the scenario.
Participates in post simulation activities such as debriefing playbacks, administer student and faculty evaluations, catalog recordings and return lab to pre-scenario conditions. Collaborate with faculty and staff as it relates to scheduling, standardizing procedures, demonstrating new technology and providing technical support.
Provide support to the CPR Committee, facilitating set up for mock codes as needed. Serves as a resource for participants completing Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) Heart Code and Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) programs and confirming all equipment in working condition.
Assist in the implementation of Nursing Education's mock code program, participating in drills throughout all areas of the Medical Center and the CBOCs.
Additional duties as needed to keep pace with the addition of new types of trainers, manikins and training techniques.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/30/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Extensive knowledge with planning, organizing, and delivering educational events. The specialized experience is not limited to new employee orientation or annual mandatory training. You must have experience with computer systems. You must the ability to work with diverse group of people and have the ability to work collaboratively with facility leadership on special projects.. Preferred Experience: Healthcare experience/knowledge and Simulation experience preferred.

Physical Requirements: The work requires physical effort. There will be walking, standing, bending, carrying of items such as task trainers, manikins, boxes of training equipment, movement of equipment such as beds, over-bed tables, chairs, etc. Typically, the employee will configure simulation labs to meet the requirement of the simulation activity that will take place. The work will require walking and lifting as indicated below:
Walking-required to become familiar with the Medical Center and location of training locations. Lifting-Simulation equipment that may weigh in excess of 50 pounds Transport-movement of equipment throughout the Medical Center and to and throughout the CBOCs.
