This position serves as an Education Technician in the Employee Education Services department at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center (CVVAMC), Georgia. The primary purpose for the position is to provide program/administrative support and assistance to enhance the effectiveness and responsiveness of Education Services to meet its mission and goals.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Provides daily insight of assigned Employee Education programs designed to maximize the service's ability to deliver high quality and timely career development and employee education services CVVAMC wide.
Coordinates all non-clinical career development and employee training and ensures all Department of Veterans Affairs guidelines and regulations are adhered to.
Develops abilities to back-up/assist other members by running reports, creating TMS class or items, assisting with needs assessments, coordinating or facilitating trainings, etc.
Gathers and organizes narrative and statistical information using established methods, techniques, and precedents such as questionnaires, interviews, review of databases, and comparisons of past, present, and related program functions.
Assists in the development and monitoring of service contracts agreements and participates in quality management activities and initiatives.
Assists with various program marketing strategies, coordination and design to include brochure/flyers, handouts, announcement cards for various training endeavors.
Reviews all travel and training request for correct completion prior to submission and notifies requester of approval or disapproval.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/25/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary with no physical demands such as above average ability, dexterity or strength required to perform the work. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as paper, books, small parts or driving and automobile, etc. When necessary this position may require temporary relocation or brief travel to support conferences, interviews, meetings, and sources of information off station.
Work Environment: Work is usually performed in offices, meeting rooms, conference setting or similar settings. Some positions involve travel, including the normal everyday risks and discomforts of auto, bus, rail, and air transportation. In some positions there may be occasional exposure to conditions in buildings under construction, repair, or demolition. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Some limited travel may be required.
