The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Prevention Coordination Specialist at an US Space Force installation.
Duties
Leads management, implementation and delivery of research-based activities related to primary prevention of Interpersonal and Self-Directed Violence (ISDV) with the intent to stimulate change in knowledge, attitudes, beliefs and behaviors in general and target populations.
Uses professional knowledge to lead installation prevention training team efforts to include all mandatory integrated prevention and resilience training as required by DoD, DAF, USSF, MAJCOM/Field Command and installation leadership.
Community Action Team member directly supporting execution of established initiatives and development of the installation Community Action Plan (CAP).
Develop and deliver effective primary prevention and resilience strategic communication and marketing that drives healthy and positive cultural norms leading to a resilient Total Force and families.
Accomplishes professional development and maintains technical proficiency. Completes and maintains credentialing, continuing education and certifications outlined for the prevention workforce and as necessary to provide required trainings (i.e., certification as a Master Resiliency Trainer and DoD SPARX Prevention Training).

- Must obtain and maintain DoD Sexual Assault Advocate Certification and recertification from the National Organization of Victim Assistance (NOVA) as specified in DoD and AF policy.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays.
- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, to include the IOR for the Social Science Serie, 0101.
INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Basic Requirements
Degree (bachelor's or higher): behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
or
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
or
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
AND
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade NH-02 (GS-11), or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience must include experience in providing violence-related primary prevention education and/or training as well as: 1. Comprehensive and professional knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies as well as behavioral, social science and/or public health practices principles and theories relating to prevention and resilience. 2. Thorough knowledge of a wide range of delivery systems relating to prevention and resilience and the multiple uses of such systems. 3. In-depth knowledge of DAF/USSF culture, military family dynamics, related professional fields, and a thorough knowledge of the DAF/USSF community and the unique challenges that DAF/USSF families face; or equivalent knowledge. 4. Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. 5. Ability to effectively lead and chair committees, working groups, and teams. 6. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and determine resource requirements; determine goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinate with other organizations; monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes. 7. Skill in working with customers to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations. 8. Ability to persuade others to accept recommendations, work toward an agreement, and negotiate mutually acceptable solutions. 9. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 10. Ability to identify problems and use sound judgment and decisions to generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the NH-02 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the NH-03 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
