The Aerospace Engineering Technician will perform a mix of routine and varying assignments associated with analyzing, installing, repairing, fabricating, or trouble-shooting electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems and components on aircraft.

Duties

Uses state of the art computerized diagnostic equipment and specialized test equipment to analyze and resolve performance discrepancies on Flight Program Operations aircraft and flight inspection platforms in direct support of the National Airspace System (NAS). Troubleshoots and analyzes aircraft mechanical and electrical discrepancies on various agency aircraft models to include e.g. (Beechcraft King Air series e.g. 90, 200, 300), Bombardier CL-600 series, or Learjet 60. Performs aircraft modification functions which involves technical work on mechanical, electronic, and/or avionics components. Duties require knowledge of: the principles of aerodynamic properties, aircraft mechanical systems, electricity and electrical circuits; troubleshooting aircraft systems, special tools and mechanical equipment; and characteristics of corrosion treatment and protection of aircraft surfaces. This position requires a valid FAA Aircraft & Powerplant Certificate (A&P).

  • One year probationary period may be required.
  • Applicant must possess an FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate.

Qualifications

To qualify for this FV-G (FG/GS-11) position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-F (FG/GS-9) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE includes experience with troubleshooting and analyzing aircraft problems; utilizing diagnostic equipment to resolve performance discrepancies and determining airworthiness of highly modified aviation platforms.In addition to the minimum qualifications, the following has been determined to be a selective factor for this position. This means possession of this criterion is part of the minimum qualifications and is essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Applicants who do not possess this criterion are ineligible for further consideration.SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR (SPF): Must possess Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate (must provide documentation of certification with application).ALSOQUALITY RANKING FACTOR (QRF): Well qualified applicants will possess and document experience on at least one of the following aircraft e.g. ({Beechcraft King Air Series-90, 200, 300}, Bombardier CL-600 series, or Learjet 60).Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their work history.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
