About the Position: This position is located at the US Army Special Operations Aviation Command located at Fort Liberty, North Carolina.

Duties

Regularly flies as pilot in command of utility rotor-wing aircraft or fixed wing aircraft. Operates aircraft within all operational, safety and regulatory limitations. Operates navigational and communication radios, auto-pilot, computerized flight management systems, pressurization, and other on-board aircraft systems to ensure proper aircraft operation.

Requirements

  • This position requires a Secret Security clearance.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. In accordance with AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, the incumbent must successfully pass a urinalysis screening prior to the appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must possess and maintain current commercial multi-engine instrument ratings in accordance with appropriate Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Must possess and maintain current commercial fixed and rotary wing, multi-engine instrument ratings in accordance with appropriate Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Must pass and maintain an annual Army Class II Flight Physical Qualification.
  • Must be qualified and maintain currency in the CASA 212, C-27J, and C-12 and UH60 Helicopter.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Minimum Eligibility Requirements: Minimum eligibility requirements for positions in this occupation are based on possession of the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificates and/or appropriate military ratings, meeting the applicable flight hour requirements, and possession of the knowledge and skills required for the positions. Minimum Flight Hour Requirements: The following flight hour requirements apply to all applicants: Total Flight Time -- 1500 Pilot-In-Command -- 250 Night Flying -- 75 Flying Time, Last 12 Months -- 100 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes piloting helicopters and multi-engine aircraft for sensitive cargo; operating rotary wing and/or fixed wing aircraft; preparing technical post-flight reports for distribution; managing adherence of safe aviation operations for assigned areas; and performing maintenance run-up and flight checks to ensure correctness of repairs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Aircraft MaintenanceFlight SystemsTechnical Problem Solving Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
