Duties
Pilots highly modified rotary wing (RW) and fixed wing (FW) aircraft in support of USASOC requirements.
Serves as a technical advisor to the US Army Safety Center on equipment and training unique to special operations.
Serves as the safety inspector for the Aviation Resource Management Survey (ARMS) inspection team.
Utilizes forward looking infra-red (FLIR) systems in conjunction with night vision goggles.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret/SCI security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
- This position requires you to pass and maintain an annual Class II Flight Physical Qualification.
- Incumbent must possess and maintain current FAA Commercial Pilot certificate for multi-engine aircraft land with instrument ratings in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements: Minimum eligibility requirements for positions in this occupation are based on possession of the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificates and/or appropriate military ratings, meeting the applicable flight hour requirements, and possession of the knowledge and skills required for the positions.
Minimum Flight Hour Requirements: The following flight hour requirements apply to all applicants:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Piloting helicopters and multi-engine aircraft for executive level personnel and sensitive cargo; Operating developmental rotary wing and fixed wing aircraft under accident investigations; Operating modified aircraft such as UH60, C-27J, C-12 and CASA-212, Preparing technical flight reports and/or accident reports; Managing system safety requirements for highly advanced aircraft and Managing safety inspections and sensitive aviation safety of special operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
