This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Operations Division (OC), Office of Operations Management (OM), Asset Forfeiture Section (OMA), Arlington VA.
This position(s) primary purpose is to support the processing of seizures once they are sent from the field to HQ for appropriate review finalization.
Duties
As a Supervisory Legal Administration Specialist (Asset Forfeiture), your typical work assignments may include:
Planning, executing, and reporting on original or ongoing asset forfeiture analyses or evaluations with varied, complex features that require a fresh approach to resolve new problems.
- Reviewing petitions for remission or mitigation, claims and bonds to determine legal sufficiency.
- Performing the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised.
- Develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary.
- Resolves informal complaints and grievances.
- Providing guidance and advice within the organization concerning asset forfeiture policies, regulations. laws, and management practices.
- Directing program segment that performs technical, administrative, protective, investigative, or professional work.
- Responsible for processing the administrative forfeitures of property seized by the field agents.
- Reviews and approves or disapproves leave requests.
- Assures that subordinates are trained and fully comply with the provisions of the safety regulations.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all of the required qualification requirements described below by the closing of this announcement. If you are qualifying based on education or if there are mandatory education requirements listed below, you MUST submit a copy of your college transcript with your application.
Applicants applying for the GS-13 must meet one of the following requirements:
Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade or pay band in the Federal service that includes performing the following duties: 1) Advising compliance with multiple regulations, laws, and procedures in the disbursement of seized property and funds to other Federal, State, and Local law enforcement agencies; 2) Performing extensive and thorough legal research into the legislative history, precedent cases, decisions, and opinions that may be applicable to particular legal matters; 3) Experience with application of various laws, court and/or administrative decisions and interpretations, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures which pertain to the administration of law; 4) Providing guidance and advice on asset forfeiture policies, regulations. laws, and management practices or procedures.
Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
