THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC (SMALL SHOP CHIEF) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1071000 and is part of the IL AASF 1, National Guard.

Duties

As a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC (SMALL SHOP CHIEF) (TITLE 32), WG-2604-12, you will serve as shop chief over a small organizational in the Logistics function of the Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF)/Aviation Classification Repair Activity Depot (AVCRAD) with responsibility for the overall shop operation. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Plan and lay out work to be accomplished in the shop, which, is then completed, by the incumbent and lower graded mechanic(s). Provide recommendations and input to the supervisor concerning personnel actions such as performance appraisals, awards, position description changes, disciplinary actions, and leave. Perform in-process, final inspection, and clear status symbols certifying work performed by others in shop. Determine approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner. Estimate time, equipment and material requirements. Devise and maintain plans and records. Prepare for, and participate in, various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies. Implement safety regulatory requirements. Ensure that other workers in the shop wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Perform additional duties such as structural firefighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment. Perform the full range of shop work.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence: The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees. The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible. The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership. The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens. Military Grades: Warrant Officer/Enlisted: May not exceed the rank of CW2. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience which demonstrates knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-12 Level - MUST possess specialized experience which includes experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment; experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems; experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment; experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels; and experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
