As a Supervisory Legal Administrative Specialist, you will share responsibility for the management and technical direction of a USCIS Asylum Office, including preparation, research, resolution and processing in the office's administration of applications for asylum and other benefits.
Duties
Serves as an expert consultant on all Asylum Division benefits and screenings administered at the Asylum Office.
Oversees research into and evaluations of pending cases including key system searches across all available USCIS and DHS case management systems.
Supervises legal administrative specialists in the completion of duties in support of the adjudication of benefits and applicant screenings.
Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for the completion of work.
Trains and develops expertise among subordinates and assigns work and roles according to team member’s experience and knowledge.
Qualifications
The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 06/12/2024.
Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 06/12/2024.
GS-11: You qualify at the GS-11 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Evaluating workflow processes and recommending ways to improve operational efficiency;
Using systems or databases to research or analyze immigration status or eligibility;
Preparing documentation or creating reports related to immigration case processing;
Providing guidance to customers related to immigration applications; OR
You may substitute successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or at least three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field related to the work of this position.
