This position is part of the Support Services Branch, Office of Management and Budget. Internship to begin Fall 2024 . This is an internship with the flexibility to work a part-time or full-time work schedule throughout the school year(s). **Notice: More than one selection may be made within 90 days of the issuance of the certificate, if additional vacancies occur. Promotion to the next highest grade level is neither guaranteed nor implied.

Duties

The incumbent serves as a Pathways Student Trainee, working in a developmental capacity with increasingly more responsible assignments being given. As a Student Trainee (Facilities and Services), your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision: Assist in reviewing request for relocation/renovation of office space to include ensuring that the request is following applicable directives and meet specific organizational requirements. Aid in PII management, assisting with deliveries, supplies required, transportation, providing reoccurring reports, statistics, etc. Conduct surveillance of total facility and reports any unusual findings to supervisor. Arranges furniture and equipment for various types and sizes of events. Researching and evaluating suppliers; preparing purchase orders; ordering repairs and overseeing maintenance of office equipment; monitoring and coordinating facilities management issues, and maintaining files related to facilities management.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must meet the qualification requirements outlined below to be considered minimally qualified for this position. The qualification requirements are in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standards. Failure to submit transcripts, proof of acceptance or current enrollment in an accredited college/university will result in an ineligible rating. ALL QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE MET NO LATER THAN THE CLOSING DATE OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. Qualifications for the Student Trainee GS-05: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector that demonstrates your ability performing the following: Applying computer skills to correspond via e-mail, generate work orders and purchase request, maintain records and documents, and develop drawings. OR B. Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree. OR C. A combination of education and specialized experience as listed above. Qualification for the Student Trainee GS-07: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector that demonstrates your ability performing the following: Applying basic principles, concepts, and methods of facility administration in support of program and operations. Applying computer skills to correspond via e-mail, generate work orders and purchase requests, maintain records and documents, and develop drawings. OR B. Possess 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. Superior Academic Achievement is based on: 1. Class Standing - You must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision; Or 2. Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - You must have a grade-point average of either: 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; Or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. OPM's Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions states that a GPA of 2.95 must be rounded to 3.0, while a GPA of 2.94 must be rounded to 2.9. OR C. A combination of graduate level education and specialized experience as listed above. NOTE: All eligible applicants MUST be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a degree seeking program that will begin during Fall 2024. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. ***For completed educational programs or equivalent during Spring/Summer 2024, proof of acceptance or current enrollment in an accredited college/university for Fall 2024 must be provided**

Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the qualification requirements if the applicant can provide documentation indicating that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
