This position is located in the Office of Quality Management, Centralized Credentialing Verification Office, Billings Area Indian Health Service. The incumbent reports to the Supervisory Credentialing Specialist.

Duties
Perform overall credentialing and privileging function by verifying the providers credentials and preparing the documents for review by the appropriate staff ensuring compliance is maintained.
Conduct primary source verification following specific rules, requirements, policies that meet the organization's Medical Staff Bylaws, accreditation, CMS, rules and regulations; review and verify that the information provided by the applicant is true, accurate, meets the established requirements and resolve all discrepancies.
Facilitate medical staff and governing body meetings and minutes.
Maintain up to date credentialing documents in the credentialing software system at all times to ensure compliance.
Survey readiness.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-7: 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement or 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-5. Examples of specialized experience for this grade level include:
Application of pertinent laws, regulations, policies and precedents, agency handbooks, directives, memos, notices, and local medical center procedures related to the principles, practices and program goals of the credentialing program; Manages provider applications (initial) for credentialing within a healthcare facility. Apply knowledge of medical specialties; Conduct verification through databanks, online licensure verification sites. Prepare emails, letters, and reports; Use software applications such as word processing and data bases and internet database applications for data entry, file maintenance and data retrieval.
GS-9: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related or 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-7. Examples of specialized experience for this grade level include:
Application of complex pertinent laws, regulations, policies and precedents, agency handbooks, directives, memos, notices, and local medical center procedures related to the principles, practices and program goals of the credentialing program; Receives and reviews correspondence and communications for the credentials function and determines which items require immediate attention and which are confidential in nature. Develops and provides routine and special reports. Composes correspondence requiring higher level signatures for credentialing actions. Maintains local requirement files and records pertaining to the credentialing process. Provides quality control checks on data.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
