This is a permanent position that is located in the Civil Division, Office of Human Resources. The office is seeking a collaborative and knowledgeable supervisory human resources specialist to work in a fast-paced HR environment. The ideal candidate for this position is an excellent leader, self-motivated and applies a variety of advanced human resources principles, concepts, methods and practices to plan and deliver human resources information services and guidance.
Duties
As a Supervisory Human Resources Specialist GS-0201-15, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Performs the full range of administrative and personnel management functions for the staff supervised.
Serves as senior advisor, expert, and consultant on assigned issues, and provides managers with interpretations of the agency's procedures, practices, policies, and guidelines.
Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates the effectiveness of the Division's Performance Management program to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
Counsels managers on performance situations with potential to generate administrative or negotiated agreement grievances, EEO complaints, etc.
Serves as the senior advisor for the Division on award and recognition program issues.
Plans, coordinates, and conducts special studies of performance management policies, issues, and practices.
Serves as the Division expert on worklife, including health and wellness, the Department's Employee Assistance Program, family, and dependent care, and telework.
Conducts analysis on unanticipated changes in worklife can affect performance outcomes, particularly as they regard accomplishment of mission.
Plans and manages events to explain and promote worklife programs.
Provides expert employee engagement guidance, advice, and support to managers across the Division.
Creates internal communication plans to increase employee participation in workforce studies, as well as provide feedback on action planning and its results.

Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
- You must successfully undergo a suitability check.
- You must be a current Federal employee within the Department of Justice on a Competitive Service appointment.
- You must meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of this announcement.
- You may have to complete a one year supervisory probationary period.
Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Supervisory Human Resources Specialist (Assistant Director), (GS-0201-15), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade.
If you are a current Department of Justice employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade.
To qualify for the GS-15 Supervisory Human Resources Specialist position. you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 performing such duties as: Overseeing the performance, worklife and employee engagement programs; providing advisory services to senior managers on the employee performance plans; developing innovative employee recognition tool and techniques; Planning and managing worklife programs and serving as a expert in employee assistance programs, family and dependent care, and telework.
