The Exhibit Specialist works under the direction of the Head of Graphic Design and Production, and is responsible for the design, layout, and coordination of all assigned exhibitions and building graphics for both permanent and temporary exhibitions, including interior and exterior signage, and the Sculpture Garden.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the GS-1010-12. For this position, Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the federal GS-11 level, designing and physically creating graphics for exhibitions. Your application and resume must demonstrate that you possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs). Do not provide a separate narrative written statement. Rather, you must show in your resume how your past work experience demonstrates that you possess the KSAs identified below. If asked to do so, cite specific examples of employment or experience contained in your resume and describe how this experience has prepared you to successfully perform the duties of this position. DO NOT write "see resume" in your application! Those applicants who meet the minimum qualification requirements will be evaluated against these factors to determine the best-qualified candidates. 1. Graphics – Skill in designing, printing, and installing graphic signage. 2. Production & Project Management: Responsibilities to include project management, production and installation, and digital asset management of multiple projects relating to special exhibitions, permanent collection installations and campus signage. Other Relevant Eligibility Criteria: Must possess visual acuity sufficient to create accurate, color matched digital output. Must be able to climb a ladder.  Must be able to lift and carry 15 pounds. Must be able to work occasional weekend and evening overtime hours. Education

Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- illustrative design, commercial art, fine arts, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, or other fields related to the position.

Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis.

Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes work in the appropriate field, e.g., design, modelmaking, art, taxidermy, or restoration.
