The primary purpose of the work in this position is to provide organization and continuity of installations and projects relating to the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Art, as well as to coordinate and supervise special exhibitions and other special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the GS-1010-13. A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12, coordinating, managing and facilitating projects relating to the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Art, as well as to coordinating and supervising the construction and installation of special exhibitions and other special projects. Rather, you must show in your résumé how your past work experience demonstrates that you possess the KSAs identified below. Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated experience with the operations of an art museum and its various departments to understand the coordinated interactions required to fulfill the purpose of the position. 2. Comprehensive knowledge of and extensive experience in the processes involved in putting together exhibitions, including planning, layout, construction, installation, and maintenance phases. 3. Demonstrated ability to delegate and supervise work is required; ability to deal effectively with all personnel involved in projects to achieve objectives, be able to anticipate needs and problems, and quickly develop decisive solutions. 4. Comprehensive knowledge as a Contracting Officer Technical Representative (COR). 5. Working knowledge demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, Wrike Project Management and Oracle Financial Management Systems are required. Basic knowledge of Sketchup is beneficial. Education

Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- illustrative design, commercial art, fine arts, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, or other fields related to the position.

Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis.

General Experience (for GS-5 positions): Experience that demonstrated the skills and creativity needed to use the tools or equipment associated with the work. Because talent and creative ability are vital to successful work performance, samples of work or other suitable evidence of technical competence may be required. Unpaid experience that is pertinent should be credited based upon its relevance to the work of the particular position to be filled.

Examples of qualifying general experience include: design and construction of exhibits, posters, photographic displays, signs, or displays of art or technical equipment; preparation or mounting of museum specimens; wood carving, sculpting, illustrating, interior or industrial design; or the use of tools and techniques related to carpentry, plastics, sheet metal, electrical or electronics work, machining, painting, molding, or in making machines, apparatus, and instruments.

Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes work in the appropriate field, e.g., design, modelmaking, art, taxidermy, or restoration.


Education must be obtained from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
