About the Position: This position is located with the 56th Medical Group is located on Luke Air Force Base, Maricopa County, Arizona. It is the largest fighter wing in the U.S. Air Force and a major training base of the Air Education and Training Command. The nearest two communities to Luke are the city of Surprise and the town of Litchfield Park.

Duties

Educate medical personnel on readiness skills emergency and training programs. Advise committee members, agencies, and military/civilian program managers on emergency and training programs. Create new Readiness training programs using Comprehensive Medical Readiness Program (CMRP) as a guideline. Apply instructional techniques to resolve routine instructional problems, adjusting or supplementing instructional materials and/or approaches. Mentor and coach novice instructors, oversee course administrators, and adjust content based on learning needs. Plan and develop internal program policies and procedures for determining training requirements on training and testing materials and specialized learning programs. Establish and monitor performance standards to identify training and/or developmental needs to arrange for additional training of coaches, instructors or mentors.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds may be required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Tuberculosis testing is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain current registration with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians at the EMT- Basic level. Must have held certification for at least 3 years. EMT-Instructor status is preferred.

Education: Must have undergraduate and graduate level education with a major study in education or a subject area related to this position. OR B. Experience: Experience must demonstrate a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in applications within the Department of Defense Electronic Health Record (EHR); Supervising or administering a training program; Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluating of training results, or work in this occupation or a subject-matter field that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service that develop and/or deliver readiness training related to courses or programs such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Automated External Defibrillator, Advanced Life Support (ALS), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Basic Life Support (BLS), Prolonged Casualty Care, Trauma Nursing courses, Advanced Trauma Life Support or Tactical Combat Casualty Care, to designated personnel. OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
