The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Technical Training Instructor performing all technical training instructor classroom-related activities, supporting officer/enlisted course curriculum development, modification, and/or revision efforts in initial skills, advanced, (Continued in Duties)
Duties
(Continued from Summary) and/or supplemental Technical Training courses utilizing approved curriculum IAW Air Education and Training Command (AETC) instructions in support of United States Air Force Undergraduate Weapons Director (UWD) Training, Control and Reporting Center (CRC) Initial Qualification (IQT), and Battle Management Instructor Qualification Training (BMIT).
Duties:
Instructs students through assigned blocks of instruction at basic and/or advanced technical/administrative levels of the Undergraduate Weapons Director Training course, Initial Qualification Training courses and the Battle Management Instructor Qualification Training course.
Researches, develops, revises and recommends updates to the Undergraduate Weapons Director Training course materials, Initial Qualification Training course materials and Battle Management Instructor Qualification Training course materials in accordance with established learning objectives.
Plans, develops, executes, and evaluates and comprehensive and effective training program.
Maintains professional and technical proficiency and accomplishes difficult special projects related to career field tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP), to include staff surveillance visits to various training facilities and/or activities.

- Prior United States Air Force Battle Manager OR United States Air Force Command and Control Battle Management Operations Instructor qualification and experience in one of the following is highly desired: Control and Reporting Center (CRC), (Con't)
- (Con't) Air Control Squadron (ACS) E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS), or E-8 Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS).
- Position may require travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of a TDY.
- May be required to conduct syllabus blocks of instruction which include live aircraft control.
- Prior to instructing live Air Weapons Control missions, the incumbent is required to pass and maintain clearance IAW AFI 48-123, Medical Examination and Standards.
- If tasked to conduct syllabus blocks of instruction for live aircraft control, employee must maintain currency as Control and Reporting Center Battle Manager or Weapons director IAW AETCI 13-101.
- May be required to work on special projects as directed by the supervisor.
- This position has been identified as Technical Training Essential.
- The employee must obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-1712, Training Instructor series.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes, Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s). Supervising or administering a training program. Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results. Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. Applying a working knowledge of the characteristics and limitations of airborne battle management, surveillance and mission systems; target detection and tracking capabilities; computer-generated console situations and tabular displays, electronically generated data; air tasking orders; receiving, recording and relaying operational threat data; identification procedures and techniques. Providing knowledge of weapons control and air battle management procedures, theater air operations employment and regulations as it relates to the courses of instruction.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of principles and practical methods, techniques, and tools of instruction to teach a variety of students with a range of difference such as diverse ages, backgrounds, learning styles, and levels of interest.
2. Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of command and Control Battle Management operations at practical level to include knowledge of aerospace surveillance and reporting systems, weapons control, combat airspace management, and tactical data link management.
3. Knowledge of test and measurement principles, techniques, and objectives.
4. Skill in accomplishing special training studies and projects.
5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
6. Ability to analyze problems and develop appropriate solutions.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
