Duties
As a Health Communication Specialist, you will:
Provide expert consultation and technical expertise to development and implementation of priorities, strategies, and practices for communicating with various audiences (e.g., general public, underserved populations, and populations at risk).
Support the development, testing, and timely dissemination of science-and audience-based products, tools, and messages to different audiences in a variety of formats.
Support research and/or evaluation activities related to health communication and marketing.
Contribute to the efficient and effective management of program resources and administrative processes.
Support liaison activities between program and other CDC communication and marketing staff and with external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level, which must include the following experience: Planning, developing, implementing, and/or evaluating communication and marketing plans, programs, and strategies, to achieve optimal program results and health outcomes.
OR
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
Combination of experience and education: Have a combination of specialized experience and graduate level education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
A copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
A college or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools which meet these criteria, please refer to
