Duties

If selected for this position, the incumbent will plan and conduct routine investigations and/or financial examinations relating to either civil or criminal investigations within the jurisdiction of the United States Attorney's Office. Typical work assignments will include: Planning, conducting and participating in routine and financial investigations with Federal, State, and local officials. Accessing, collecting, examining and analyzing data, evidence, and other information from a variety of sources, including public access, administrative, and law enforcement databases. Analyzing evidence obtained from investigators, analysts, and law enforcement officers and assisting investigators in tracking leads and gathering information. Preparing comprehensive reports related to investigations for use in litigation. Examines and analyzes books, ledgers, payroll, cost reports, billing statements, invoices, correspondence and computer data pertaining to an investigation. Performing a variety of ancillary investigation-related analytical services in direct support of litigation including assisting in the analysis and compilation of documents and physical evidence and creating audio and visual materials for use in motions and at trial. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

GS-11: To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must meet ONE of the following conditions as defined below: Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level obtained in either the public or private sector. Specialized experience is defined as planning and conducting investigative analysis; conducting research to reconstruct events or establish possible associations; and preparing and disseminating interim and final investigative reports. Education: You must have one of the following types of education in a closely related field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Law) a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Combination of Education and Experience: Combination of specialized experience as described in A and education as described in B which when combined equal 100% of the requirements. Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 2 full years. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
