Duties

Facilitates the interaction between the schools and the military community to preclude or resolve problems related to education and logistical support. Aids and supports to coordinate and advise military parents of school-aged children on the local school community and in solving education-related challenges. Articulates School Liaison policies, procedures, and priorities; interprets implications for youth, parents, commanders, command staff, and school personnel; and outlines expected outcomes to measure success. Assists in developing and communicating the strategic/key messages for CYS programs through the written/visual mediums (such as information and staff papers, slides, reports, flyers, and brochures). Promotes CYS programming with local schools to increase awareness amongst military families.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/physical/background requirements for this position.
  • Must have current health assessment which documents good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations IAW current Army and DoD policy to include annual influenza vaccinations.
  • A one year probationary period may be required (either initially or upon conversion, if applicable).
  • Successful completion of annual training requirements within the prescribed time frame and demonstrated on the job competence is required.
  • May be subject to an irregular hours, evening and or weekends.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) Check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation. The Crime Control Act must be successfully completed and maintained.
  • Successful completion of Foundation and Annual CYS Management Training is required.
  • Travel to on and off post locations required.

Qualifications

Successful completion of a 4 year college or university degree with a major course of study/substantial course work which directly relates to a CYS field: early childhood / elementary / secondary / special education, child / youth development, psychology, youth program administration or a closely related field such as social work, home economics, physical education or related behavioral sciences. OR A combination of education and experience--courses equivalent to a major in a subject matter field (24 semester hours) appropriate to the position (see above), plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above. In addition, all candidates must possess: 1. Minimum twenty-four (24) months work experience in a child/youth or a public school child/youth program. 2. Program administration experience in child and youth programs. 3. The ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions. 4. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English. 5. The physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop and stand on a routine basis.
