This position is in the Creative Services Branch (CSB), Office of Legislative and Public Affairs (OLPA) within the Office of the Director, NSF. The primary duties of this position are to support the brand initiative, to include addressing inquiries to the brand management team; refining, developing, and designing brand resources; conducting training sessions and outreach on brand standards; and supporting other graphic design and/or image editing functions as needed.
Duties
As a Visual Information Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
Responds to questions related to the NSF brand identity.
Advises clients on appropriate brand application for their project and recommends most feasible solution for challenging situations.
Trains the NSF staff on proper NSF branding, advising clients on the appropriate brand application for their project, recommending the most feasible solution for challenging situations
Provides consulting and expertise from a designer's perspective to help develop strong, visually appealing products that reach appropriate audiences.
Ensures compliance with Section 508 Amendment to the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Plain Writing Act of 2010 requirements before release.
Engages with internal and stakeholders to assess user experience, challenges, and opportunities.
Develops and creates products including document layouts, infographics, web graphics, brochures, factsheets, flyers, and logos; makes final reviews of proposed visual communication for style, design, layout, flow, and branding aspects.
Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-12 level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 Level in the federal service developing, designing, and creating brand standards and policies and reviewing and approving materials to ensure alignment with brand standards which represent an organization. Examples of specialized experience includes: developing brand compliant visuals and resources and providing advice and guidance regarding proper usage; supporting and leading outreach activities including training regarding brand identity and policies; creating, reviewing, and editing visual information products that are 508 compliant; and providing expertise regarding visual communication products and activities.

Education may enhance skills required for this position; however, no substitution of education for specialized experience may be made at this level.
