The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing trades and labor work within the Quality Assurance Management Inspection office.

Duties

- Develops Directorate's coordinated Quality Program using the Maintenance Standardization and Evaluation Program (MSEP). - Serves as supervisor of the Quality Assurance Section, performing the full range of supervisory and managerial duties. Provides a work environment that is free from all forms of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. - Ensures the availability of required technical orders, safety manuals, training instructions and other written material required to perform work within the aircraft maintenance organization. - Acts as liaison between Director of Maintenance and AETC Headquarters for any aircraft, engine, aerospace ground equipment and/or test equipment problems and policy and/or procedure problems. - Utilizes Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS) and other automated systems. Accepts and conducts special projects as tasked or assigned by the Director of Maintenance.

  • The critical nature and scope of the work performed, coupled with the safety of flight implications relating to aircraft maintenance, establish the primary skills and knowledge required to be technical in nature.
  • May be required to work overtime, shift work, weekends, emergency callback, uncommon tour of duty, perform TDY and travel on any means of transportation directed by management, e.g., military aircraft, etc.
  • Work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver’s license is required for the position.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Exposure to various phases of all assigned aircraft maintenance in order to perform inspection reviews, evaluate suggestions and technical order changes is highly recommended.
  • This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
  • Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
  • This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8800 Aircraft Overhaul Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC INSPECTOR SUPERVISOR without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment. 2. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures. 3. Knowledge of the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and /or test equipment common to trades supervised. 4. Knowledge of quality assurance/control methods, principles, and practices, including statistical analysis and sampling techniques. 5. Knowledge of aircraft maintenance processes, procedures, and sortie generation as it pertains to all assigned aircraft. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
