The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate supervisors and workers in accomplishing trades and labor work of the T-6 Aircraft Maintenance Division.
Duties
- Performs work planning responsibilities. Plans on a quarterly or longer basis the overall use of personnel and other resources in two or more separate organizational segments or groups controlled through one or more levels of supervision.
- Performs work direction responsibilities, Assigns and explains work requirements and operating instructions to subordinate supervisors and sets deadlines and establishes the sequence of work operations to be followed.
- Performs administration responsibilities. Participates with subordinate supervisors/employees in the development of performance plans.
- Provides a work environment that is free from all forms of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
- Ensures education in, compliance with, and practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in all work areas.

- Valid driver's license required for the position.
- Work experience in T-6 aircraft maintenance is required; this is a second-level supervisory position.
- Required to work overtime, rotating shifts, uncommon tours, weekends, etc. Subject to call-back, recall in emergencies and during readiness exercises
- Obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
- Physical demands: Performance of duties requires working in strained positions, constant standing, kneeling, bending and stooping over units while performing maintenance.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 85 lbs. is required. Normal color vision required.
- IAW DoDI 3020-42 this position has been locally or command designated as Mission Essential (ME); needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of the activity.
- Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release.
- Working conditions: Subject to exposure to grease, oil, fuels, battery acid, cleaning solvents, slippery surfaces, high pressure air, engine noise, and the possibility of receiving electrical shocks.
- Subject to high noise levels from working on the flight line and/or from air compressors, high velocity air flow, and aircraft jet and gas turbine engines.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
- This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8800, Aircraft Overhaul Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to supervise.

1. Knowledge of a wide range or principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment.
2. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications.
4. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission.
5. Ability to manage overall direction and coordination of subordinate work activities and functions and implement sound personnel policies, practices, and procedures through one or more levels of subordinate supervisors. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
6. Knowledge of the use and maintenance of a variety of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and/or test equipment. Knowledge in troubleshooting, inspecting, and/or tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
