This position is located in National Capital Parks-East, in the Maintenance Division. This is a Career/Career-Conditional Full-time appointment.

Duties

The major duties of the Electrician position include, but are not limited to, the following: Performs all preventative maintenance, operational checks, repair, layout, installation, troubleshooting, tracing, locating defects, modification on all new and existing electrical systems park wide, electrical generators and fire suppression systems park wide. Work consists of installing and troubleshooting meters, load centers, circuit breakers, equipment controls, lighting and power outlets, disconnects, solenoids, relays and lighting fixtures. Determines the proper and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems equipment and controls. Works from plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, repair manuals and related codes: National Electric Code, Uniform Building Code, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Life Safety Code, and NFPA 70A Electrical Code for one- and two- family dwellings, park and manufacturers' standards of preventative maintenance. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to do the Work of the Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Ability to Use and Maintain Hand Tools (Electrical Work) Knowledge of Electrical Equipment Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Ability To Use Electrical Drawing Theory and Instruments (Electrical, Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade Practices Trouble shooting (electrical) If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. Education

There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.
