Duties

You will modify and repair existing pipefitting installations according to provided specifications or instructions. You will determine the extent of repairs required for piping systems or equipment. You will calculate pipe, joint, or valve sizes needed to support pressures of systems. You will inspect and test systems for damage, leaks, and blockages in lines, expansion joints, valves and traps.

Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is the ability to do the work of a Pipefitter without more than normal supervision performing common tasks including: (1) Installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing high-pressure piping systems and equipment such as, steam-heating, hydraulic systems, flash and expansion tanks, condensate, vacuum systems, radiators and circulating pumps; (2) Working from building plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out the routing, placement, pitch, elevation, pressure reduction, expansion and operation of various piping systems and equipment; and (3) Independently selecting tools and testing equipment to use for building, repairing, troubleshooting, or modernizing the following systems: steam and condensate distribution systems, hydrant and fire mains, water distribution systems , heating and control units, and plumbing systems. **NOTE: This experience must be fully and clearly supported in your resume.
