You will serve as a Pipefitter Work Leader in the Public Works Department, Utilities Management Division of NAVAL FAC ENGINEERING CMD WASH.

Duties

You will inform workers of policies, procedures, and directives affecting pipefitting work. You will interpret pipefitting assignments (e.g., work orders, building plans, blueprints) to meet workload requirements. You will inspect job sites to determine nature and sequence of work on piping installation or repair projects. You will install, and repair fittings, appliances, machinery, and fixtures in an industrial environment. You will perform backflow prevention testing, repair, and certification.

  • Must successfully complete CPR and Lock-Out/Tag-Out training.
  • Periodic hearing and vision testing is required.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • This position has a Selective Placement Factor which is: You must possess a Pipefitter Journeyman license/certification or at a minimum have 5 years experience as a Pipefitter WG-4204-10/11.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. In addition to the Selective Placement Factor, this job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE. 1) Having basic knowledge of R. S. Means estimating methods; 2) Knowing how to perform backflow prevention testing, repair, and certification; 3) Ensuring work is completed in accordance with drawings, specs, or other instructions; 4) Ensuring materials, tools, equipment and supplies are on the job site when needed.
