This position is located within the Office of the Associate Administrator for Aviation Safety (AVS-001), Office of the Deputy Associate Administrator for AVS (AVS-002). The Correspondence Analyst supports the Aviation Safety Office (AVS) correspondence system process re-engineering project.
Duties
The Aviation Safety (AVS) organization sets, oversees, and enforces safety standards for all parts of the aviation industry, impacting every facet of domestic and international civil aviation safety. AVS is comprised of eight Services/Offices (S/O) and over 7,000 employees located at headquarters and field offices around the United States and overseas. Due to the nature of its work overseeing the safety of the National Airspace System (NAS), AVS receives voluminous correspondence on a daily basis from individuals, aviation-oriented organizations, members of Congress, other government agencies, and aviation organizations from around the world.
Requirements
- US Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents).
- This is not a remote position. You will be required to report to the duty location. Telework eligible.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized experience includes: Specialized experience includes: Experience reviewing, analyzing, and properly responding to correspondence from a variety of sources (for example: Congress, the general public, the aviation industry, or other government agencies) in areas of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), aviation rulemaking, medical records, etc. This experience includes researching and/or compiling data related to aviation safety related topics and or issues.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.Applicants should provide examples of the specialized experience in their work history.This is not a remote position.
