Duties
As Epidemiologist, you will:
Consult on, monitor, and measure the outcome of assigned program through study that evaluate the effectiveness of subject activity in meeting the need of program.
Participate with scientist and program consultant both in various aspect of the study or survey design process, including conducts a search.
Provide scientific advice and technical assistance to various public, private, and/or nonprofit health and/or health-related agencies and organization for specific complex program.
Prepare comprehensive report of national surveillance system analyses which include discussion of substantive health issue and research objective, assessment of the adequacy and quality of data.
Serve as technical expert with respect to all phases of statistical interpretation relating to epidemiologic topics under consideration.
Qualifications
Desired Qualification Requirements/Experience:
Carrying out a full range of complex programmatic, epidemiologic, and surveillance activities.
Providing technical consultation and assistance to Federal, State, local and other health agencies concerning various programmatic and epidemiology projects.
Applicants must currently occupy a full-time Career or Career Conditional competitive service position within CDC/ATSDR or an Excepted Service position under the Schedule A, Schedule B, or Veterans Recruitment Appointment Authority within the CDC/ATSDR or Commissioned Corps equivalent, unless otherwise specified in the Announcement.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the
U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
