About the Position: This position is located at Martin Army Community Hospital in Fort Moore, GA. Incumbent will be for mechanic work related to boilers and air conditioning equipment within a medical treatment facility.

Duties

Perform maintenance tasks including installing and repairing components of large boilers and heating plants. Conduct visual and operational tests for troubleshooting and diagnostic purposes. Utilize prescribed chemical reagents, color slides, and/or related equipment for testing plant conditions. Repair boiler parts such as pumps, impellers, centrifugal chillers, and/or water towers.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position has been designated Weather Essential. In the event of inclement weather conditions the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • The employee must possess and maintain a National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers (NIULP) Fourth Class Power Engineer certification within 6 to 12 months of employment.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Utility Systems Repairer-Operator ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common boiler, heating and/or air conditioning systems tasks including installing components of boiler, heating and air conditioning systems. I can perform cleaning and replacement of nozzles, electrodes, and other small parts; repairing or assembling heating and air conditioning parts including pumps, compressors, and/or evaporators; collecting samples of boiler feed-water for testing. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
