As the Deputy Executive Secretary, you will ensure the proper integration of content, adherence to the VA style guide, and clarity of themes and messages into all documents intended for external and internal distribution. The Deputy supports the Executive Secretary in leading the Office of the Executive Secretary staff, maintaining and improving correspondence standards and process improvements, and coordinating communication within the VA and with outside entities.
Duties
Assigns and reviews all written products, develops short- and long-term work plans, and monitors the effective implementation of correspondence controls.
Assists in controlling and directing the development, analysis, and review of all policy documents, letters, position papers, and briefings as appropriate.
Supporting the Executive Secretary in executing the EXECSEC mission to include strategic engagement with VA staff and administrations
Manages the collection, development, and analysis of data and perceptual Information from a wide variety of sources within the Department.

To qualify, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-14) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as work that involves (1) Writing formal statements for congressional hearings; (2) Overseeing the work of subordinate employees; (3) Leading meetings with staff to ensure business standards are met; (4) Establishing business procedures.
Education
There is no educational substitution for the GS-15 level.
