This position is in the Office of Research and Development, Center for Computational Toxicology and Exposure, Great Lakes Toxicology and Ecology Division, Translational Toxicology Branch. Qualifications

NOTE:  You must meet qualification requirements, including any requirements described in the Education section, by the closing date of this announcement. In addition to the basic entry education requirements, you must have specialized experience and/or directly related education as described below: To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as conducting independent research on the accumulation and/or effects of chemicals on aquatic or aquatic-dependent wildlife; and communicating research results in peer-reviewed publications or managing technical progress of contracted research in chemical effects on aquatic organisms. Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:  Knowledge of techniques for assessing effects and/or accumulation/disposition of chemicals in aquatic or aquatic-dependent wildlife, including laboratory or field studies to quantify and/or model those processes. Skill in interpreting scientific data. Skill in written communication. Ability to lead and train a team of researchers. Skill in oral communication. Ability to develop plans and program initiatives to support establishment of new scientific standards. Ability to manage contracts including preparing procurement requests and monitoring technical performance.  Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education

You need a degree or combination of education and experience as described below to qualify for this position.

You must have a bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position; OR a combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major, as listed.
