You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (SYSANLYSIS/SYSADMIN) for the NAVAL OCEANOGRAPHY OPERATIONS COMMAND.
Duties
You will maintain Operational Availability (AO) of systems and software in accordance with Concept of Operations (CONOPS) documents.
You will analyze and manage operational METOC systems and software used for analytical and predictive environmental intelligence.
You will diagnose and repair/replace faulty system/server hardware and diagnose application malfunctions or bugs.
You will prepare and present written and verbal reports summarizing operational system and application status.
You will serve as a senior systems administrator for systems and software in the Operational IT and system integration environments.
You will serve as the primary administrator for Red Hat Enterprise LINUX and/or Microsoft Windows related middleware products such as web and database applications.
You will manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment for assigned systems.
You will be responsible for configuration management of systems and software in the operational IT and system integration environments.
You will maintain accurate network topology diagrams for assigned systems.
You will assist in conducting vulnerability assessments, audits, and reviews of Operational IT systems under NAVOCEANOPSCOM’s purview.
You will assist with vulnerability assessments, audits, and reviews of IT systems throughout the METOC area of responsibility as coordinated with the NAVOCEANOPSCOM Information System Security Manager (ISSM).
You will assist in the development and testing of systems security contingency plans and disaster recovery procedures.
You will participate in system and network design and configuration control board reviews to ensure implementation of appropriate systems security policies.
You will assist in ensuring compliant architecture, and system administration functions to sustain the operational IT environment.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for the IT SPECIALIST GS-2210 - 12, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying advanced IT to accurately represent operational METOC customer requirements.
Experience effectively measuring system risk, presenting recommendations, and leading the integration, maintenance, and administration activities of operational systems.
Experience applying, systems administration and maintenance principles for systems running Red Hat Enterprise LINUX and/or Microsoft Windows operating systems sufficient to install and maintain hardware and software; document physical and software configurations.
Experience ensuring high reliability and optimal availability of applications, systems, and accounts.
Experience applying, engineering principles to develop solutions to complex operational problems and evaluate the feasibility of implementing new technologies (i.e., Cloud, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning) in operational environments.
Experience applying, IT techniques and tools to automate operational processes.
Experience using, DISA Secure Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) sufficient to monitor, configure, evaluate, conduct, and analyze system compliance with IT security requirements and scan results.
Experience with METOC operational requirements sufficient to support operationally fielded systems and components and interpret Concept of Operations documents to ensure operations and maintenance activities are adequate to satisfy user needs.
