This position is located in the Division of Nursing Services, Ambulatory Nursing Services, in the Pediatric Clinic Nursing Department. Incumbent serves as the Supervisor for the Pediatric Clinic nursing and clinical support staff. The incumbent also serves as an RN by directing and supporting the Clinical Care Coordinator, Certified Medical Assistants, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Medical Support Assistants. This position is located in Phoenix, AZ.

Duties

The incumbent is directly responsible for the clinical services provided by nursing and clinical support staff in the Pediatric Clinic Nursing. Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work; assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments. Reviews the clinical practices and procedures and directs the activities of the Pediatric nursing and clinical support staff in accordance with the objectives of the Indian Health Service. Responsible for setting performance standards and completing evaluations of all disciplines under their supervision to meet performance expectations for patient centered services. Incumbent is required to maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license. Works on a regularly assigned, rotational or call back basis to provide continuity of nursing services during evenings, nights, holidays and weekends.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Note: Employees currently assigned to positions in this 0610 occupational series as of September 2017 will be considered to have met the basic requirements for the position occupied. Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. In addition to the above requirements, applicants must meet one of the following requirements, OR Completed a degree from Foreign Nursing School and have an Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools. License: Applicants must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS,GS-0610-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent with particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This specialized experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-11 in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. The following type of work and/or tasks include: Reviews the clinical practices and procedures and directs the activities of the Pediatric nursing and clinical support staff in accordance with the objectives of the Indian Health Service; administrative policies of the Phoenix Indian Medical Center and the Phoenix Area Indian Health Service; established criteria of regulatory agencies like the Joint Commission and Patient Centered Medical Home, and accepted national standards in the field of Pediatrics. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: Must be certified in one of the following nursing specialties to meet the Selective Placement Factor for this position. (You must provide evidence of meeting this certification with your application documents. American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in one of the following: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC), Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist (AGCNS-BC), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPNP-BC), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC), Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC), Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist, Community Health Nursing, Ambulatory Care Nurse (AMB-BC), Gerontological Nursing (GERO-BC), Informatics Nursing Certification (RN-BC), Nursing Case Management (CMGT-BC), Nurse Executive (NE-BC), Advanced Nurse Executive (NEA-BC), Pain Management (PMGT-BC), Advanced Public Health Nursing (PHNA-BC), Community Health Nursing (RN-BC), or Public/Community Health Clinical Nurse Specialist (PHCNS-BC), Pediatric Nursing (PED-BC), Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (PPCNP-BC), Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse (PMH-BH); OR HIV/AIDS Nursing Certification Board as a HIV/AIDS Certified Registered Nurse (ACRN) Or Advanced HIV/AIDS Registered Nurse (AACRN); or Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education as a Certified Diabetic Educator; or American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL), certification includes: Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML), Certified in Executive Nursing Practice (CENP); OR Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation, certification includes: Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN), Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON), Certified Breast Care Nurse (CBCN), Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP), Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Specialist (AOCNS), Certified Pediatric Oncology Nurse (CPON), Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse (AOCN); or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB), certification includes: Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN), Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP), Primary Care Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-PC); OR Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB), certification includes: Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN), Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP), Primary Care Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-PC); OR Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC), certification includes: Infection Prevention and Control and Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
