This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the General Counsel, headquartered in Washington, District of Columbia.
Duties
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY
As a Secretary (Office Automation) within the Office of the General Counsel (OGC), you will use your knowledge of and experience with providing a wide variety of administrative operations and support services to optimize business results and customer experience by:
Typing administrative and legal materials into draft and final form using a personal computer. Ensuring correctness of legal terminology, legal references and citations, and format.
Receiving and reviewing correspondence an action documents to ensure that responses are prepared, and deadlines are met.
Making necessary travel arrangements for the Deputies travel, including itineraries, travel and hotel reservations, and notification of organization and officials to be visited.
Receiving telephone calls and visitors from the White House Staff, Members of Congress, top-level department officials, representatives of State and local Governments, and other important individuals.
Maintaining appointment calendars for the Deputies. Committing the Deputies time, Scheduling appointments, public speaking engagements, meetings travel, etc., based on knowledge of priorities, workload and current issues of importance.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Specialized Experience:GS-09 Level: To qualify, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-8 level in the Federal Service in at least 4 of the 5 of the following: (1) Coordinating travel arrangements and processing travel vouchers for office staff; (2) Reviewing and routing incoming and outgoing correspondence to ensure responses are met by the deadline; (3) Recognizing omissions and errors in forms or reports and notifying appropriate staff for corrections; (4) Reviewing correspondence for grammar, punctuation, and required formats; (5) Utilizing software programs and databases to generate reports, maintain files, prepare correspondence and other written documents.
